West of Merzouga, Dayet Srji is a seasonal salt lake that’s often dry in summer. When full, it attracts a wide range of migratory and desert birds, including desert warblers, Egyptian nightjars and, occasionally, flamingos.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou –Midelt– Ziz valley- Merzouga

After breakfast, you will leave the imperial city of Fes for the sahara desert of Merzouga. Our driver will pick you up from your Riad and drive towards Ifrane or what is called “the Switzerland of Morooco” where you will have the chance to take picture beside its symbolic lion. We continue to the Middle Atlas Mountains passing through the green lush cedar groves of Morocco, home of the Atlas monkeys “Aka Barbary Apes”. Our driver will stop for you to see them in their natural habitat before continuing your way to Midelt. This city is located between the High Atlas Mountains and Middle Atlas. After lunch break, you will travel along the Ziz Valley Gorge to the edge of the great sand sea in Merzouga. You will ride your camels into the dunes to your Berber desert camp before the sunset. You will have a great experience as you watch the sunset and the stars come out. Before you retire to the warmth of your tent, you will enjoy dinner and Berber music.

Day 2: Erg Chebbi – Merzouga- Todgha Gorge- Dades Valley – Rose valley

Today will be the best moment of your desert experience as your camel guide will wake you early so that you can see the sunrise over the big dunes. After this beautiful moment, you will once again take the ship of the sahara (your camel) and trek back to your hotel at the edge of the sand sea where breakfast will be served and you will have an opportunity to shower and prepare for the day. On your way to Todgha Gorge, you will stop in Rissani where you will have the opportunity to search for fossils. Afterwards, we will continue to the highest oasis valley gorge in Morocco which is Todgha gorge. After lunch, you will experience the gorge from above and below. Once in kellaa Mgouna and after welcoming tea, our guide will make a short walk with you to the heart of the Rose valley. Even if the roses are not in bloom, the valley is always wonderful. After the walk in the oasis where you will meet local people picking up olives and figs, you will return to your hotel for the night.

Day 3: Kellaa Mgouna - Skoura – Ouarzazate- Ait Ben haddou- Tizi n Tichka- Marrakech

After delicious breakfast, you will head through the road of one thousand Kasbah to the oasis of Skoura where you will visit the Kasbah of Amridil. You will then make your way to Ouarzazate “the Hollywood of Africa” where you will have chance to visit the Kasbah of Touarirt and the film studios. Afterwards, you will continue to reach the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou. If this impressive kasbah looks familiar to you, it is because it has starred (or at least made an appearance) in many movies and TV shows such as Gladiator, The Mummy, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones. There will be plenty of stops for tea and photographs as you travel over the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka path, reaching an altitude of nearly 7500 feet above sea level. The view of the Berber villages from the above is breathtaking offering an amazing picture shots. You will arrive your riad in Marrakech around 5:30 pm. Enjoy 3 days tours from Fes to Marrakech.
